Other Work Experience
January - February 2014
Substitute Teacher
New Hampshire SAU 48 - Plymouth Elementary
Classroom Aide
For two months in 2014, while I was between jobs, I took up substitute teaching. I was only ever the head of a classroom once, but more often than not I was a classroom aide assigned to do one on one work with an individual student or two. I found that being called 'Mr. Mulherin' made me sound way too old, so I insisted that my students refer to me simply as 'Mr. M.' I also thought it had a nice, James Bond villian-esq sound to it.
It was a great experience and I walked away with more than a few amusing stories to tell.January - March 2014
Lift Attendant
Waterville Valley Ski Resort
Various jobs
During the winter of 2013-2014, I worked at a ski resort in NH as a lift attendant. Our job was to ensure that skiers and snowboarders safely made it unto and off of the lifts that brought them up the mountain. Some days, I scanned tickets to ensure their legitimacy. Other days I worked on the buttons that stopped and started the heavy machinery. Many of my coworkers were internationals from South America so I also got a chance to practice my Spanish.

Trail Crew
My first real job was working with the Forest Service at the Pemi Ranger Station in Holderness, NH.
Rain or shine, our job was to hike out into the White Mountains and maintain the trails by constructing waterbars to limit runoff, trim back branches and small trees that were encroaching on the trail, and repaint informational kiosks at trail junctures.

Game Developers Conference Volunteer
I was accepted to be a GDC Conference Associate in 2013, 2014, and 2016 in San Francisco.
I helped ensure that the conference ran smoothly by prepping speakers, defragmenting the room, checking badges, and helping attendees find booths, rooms, and bathrooms. It was a wonderful experience. I got to meet a lot of brilliant developers and hear a lot of interesting talks. I wholeheartedly recommend applying to be a volunteer yourself.Check it out here!
2012 - 2014
Interactive Games and Media - Student Ambassador
In my senior year at RIT, an email was sent out calling for volunteers for a new Student Ambassador program. My academic advisor explained that it since the Interactive Games and Media major was very communitty driven, the Ambassador program was aimed at making the students the public face of the major, not the academic advisors and faculty. So, when RIT would hold open houses and informational sessions, it would be the Ambassadors who would be guiding the tours and sitting on the informational panels.
I love to talk to strangers, and I had already spoken on a few student panels, so I decided to give it a shot.2009 - 2014
RIT Gymnastics Club
When I made it to college, I tried out for the cross country running team. Being one of the better runners on my team in high school, I thought I would have a good chance to make the team in college. When I ran my fastest 5K ever and came in 3rd to last, I realized that running was a better hobby. So I took up gymnastics instead.
In 2011, I joined the club's E-Board as the Secretary. Then in 2012, I ascended to the club President and held the title until I graduated.
Our club motto was 'Do a trick! Show us your moves!'Check it out here!
